Gavin was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He received a BA in Theology and Ministry from Southern Nazarene University. Gavin earned an MA in Intercultural Studies and a DM in Innovative Leadership in Changing Cultures, both from Nazarene Theological Seminary. He met his wife Jill at Southern Nazarene University and they were married in 2004. Together they have two amazing kids; Macy (2007) and Connor (2009). Prior to coming to Shawnee, Gavin served as Lead Pastor of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo, TX, Field Strategy Coordinator of the Africa Central Field, and Ministry Coordinator for the Nazarene Border Initiative. Discipleship, cross-cultural ministry, and community development are some of his passions. The Fothergills have lived in 12 homes over the past 20 years and ministered in five countries - each one of them holding a special place in their hearts. In his free time, Gavin enjoys soccer, gardening, and video games with the kids.
